Warning---I know some people view cheese as junk food.

I make cheese crisps. (shred hard cheeses and bake them on parchment paper until crisp).  Use turkey peperoni verse regular for heating, coco puff (low carb bland little things that crunch and sold at wegman's, and I think Weis makes a version)...then I put yummy things on them.  Soy nuts, sunflower seeds in the shell (crack them and eat so I don't just consume as many), jerky, chick peas,

Bi-Lo sells Full Circle protein chips. The bbq ones taste like Pringles!! They also have cheddar and ranch. A serving is 18 chips but 8 or 9 fill me up and taste great!

in a pinch  Ill have the  soy crisps  in a bag (  they have em at any drugstore -  3 grams of fat or so  , lots of protein and all the salty  goodness U can imagine )

they truly stop Ur hunger andare not a terrible choice when Ure famished and have to have a grab n go  snack and want it to contain protein .

i  did like beef jerky  until I  got sick from a bad batch and havent been able to eat it since .

i think  mini pretzels  in a party situation are  an acceptable choice  because they are fatfree  so not ridiculously fattening (  like real chips )  but id never bring them home (  too caloric and madly salty) /

The mustard mini ones  are  super tasty  though .  ALWAYS read the bag - anything over 1 gram of fat a serving is TOO MUCH !!!

One  lowfat  indulgence  ( only  in a party only  when there s nothing else ) Illl occasionally let myself have are  lowfat  triscuits  ( a few ) ONLY  after eating chitosan .   They are very high fiber so i figure its ok  just that ONCE  after the fat absorber  but not normally .  But boy are they tasty !

another  salty  snack I love is  fresh  radishes  from the garden  with either  "butter  "  ( fat free promise mixed with butter buds - real butter solids )  tastes just like butter - REALLY  AND its fat free  !!!

or hummus   ( preferably again  fat free  hummus  made with  beans  ..buy it at whole foods or make yer own )

high fiber  ..super tasty   YUM-Mo

My daughter had some snacks that are also protein called, Just the Cheese, she found them on Amazon, I think she got the idea from Eggface.  Some are saltier than others.  OUt of the 2 she had Jalepeno and Grilled Cheese, I like the Grilled Cheese best they weren't as salty in my opinion and I love salt.  It sure is a good way to make you want to drink your water.  But then again, we aren't supposed to eat and drink. :0)

VSG on 02/15/11 with
celery with hummus (gotta add protein whenever possible!)
edamame (pure protein), either boiled or roasted in the oven, both with kosher salt

kohlrabi is good if you like it.
good luck, hang in there.
